Charnwood Borough Council has awarded £98,482 in community funding to 17 projects across the borough. The grants were approved by the council's cabinet on 2 July 2026.
The funding supports a range of local initiatives, from creating new community facilities to helping charities with running costs and programmes that address cost of living pressures.
Major grants awarded
Woodhouse Community Hall Trust will receive £20,000 to create a play area and picnic area for local preschool and primary school children and the wider community.
Loughborough Community Food and Wellbeing Hub has been awarded £5,000 towards nutrition, mental health and financial insecurity programmes, supporting those struggling with the cost of living.
Passion Youth Club in Shepshed will receive £5,000 to help with running costs and rent.
Leicester Musical Memory Box will get £3,500 to develop dementia therapeutic groups in Charnwood.
Two types of grants
The council administers two grant schemes: Charnwood Facilities Grants, which help with premises used by groups and organisations, and Charnwood Community Grants, which support various programmes.
Cllr Liz Blackshaw, Lead Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said the funding represents a significant investment in local services. "The value these organisations return is immeasurable. They support hundreds of people through a wide range of essential services, activities, and community spaces," she said.
