Residents attended the first Charnwood Community Health and Wellbeing event at Charnwood Borough Council offices in Loughborough on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

The free event brought together a wide range of organisations offering support and information on health and wellbeing topics. The Council organised the event with support from the Charnwood Health and Wellbeing Partnership, Charnwood GP Federation, More Leisure, and the NHS.

Support and advice available

Visitors were able to access support on health checks, vaccinations, dementia, mental health, menopause and healthy living. Advice on employment and money was also available, alongside information on getting active from the Council's Active Charnwood team.

Health talks and speakers

Four health talks featured guest speakers addressing Armed Forces veteran support, the menopause, cardiovascular health, and breast and prostate cancer screening and testing.

Council response

Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council's Lead Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: "It was fantastic so many residents attended our first Community Health and Wellbeing event. We were delighted with the response.

"By bringing together a wide range of organisations under one roof, we made it easier for people to access valuable advice, information and support on issues that can have a real impact on their lives."
